The Postgraduate Studies Programme of the School of English Language and Literature offers MA courses in four specializations: MA in Linguistics, MA in Foreign Language Learning and Teaching, MA in e English and American Studies, and ΜΑ in Language, Literature and Digital Media in Education.
Students of the MA in Linguistics have to attend and successfully complete three (3) compulsory (core) courses and three (3) elective courses. They are also required to write a diploma thesis.
Students of the MA in Foreign Language Learning and Teaching have to attend and successfully complete three (3) compulsory (core) courses and three (3) elective courses. They are also required to write a diploma thesis οr create a portfolio.
Students of the MA in English and American Studies have to attend and successfully complete two (2) compulsory (core) courses and four (4) elective courses. They are also required to write a diploma thesis.
Students of the MA in Language, Literature and Digital Media in Education have to attend and successfully complete four (4) compulsory (core) courses and two (2) elective courses. They are also required to write a diploma thesis οr create a portfolio.
The MA in Linguistics aims at providing a comprehensive background in theoretical and applied linguistics, so that students can acquire specialized knowledge in these scientific fields. Students also acquire the ability to conduct independent research on different linguistic levels, their interface and on various domains of application in
The MA in Foreign Language Learning and Teaching aims at connecting theory and practice in relation to language teaching. Specifically, it aims at offering the opportunity to the MA students to look into and examine subjects which have to do with theories of language learning along with their importance in language teaching.
The MA in English and American Studies aims at giving the opportunity to students to look into the relation between literary texts and the society, history, politics and culture in which they belong; to lead them into a deeper knowledge and understanding of the range of literary / cultural production and theoretical approaches; to train them to participate in a creative and critical dialogue with various texts from different periods and different Anglophone cultures.
The MA in Foreign Language, Literature and Digital Media in Education aims at connecting theory and practice for the teaching of language elements and the incorporation of literature in foreign language teaching. The outcome is the promotion of non-explicit teaching, as well as the optimum use of literary texts in teaching primary education and secondary education students. Moreover, the MA aims at educating teachers in the use of digital media for Foreign Language Learning and Teaching.
