Postgraduate
In the postgraduate programs, graduates of Greek medical schools and of approved foreign medical schools can apply, provided that official recognition of their degree is submitted, included native medical residents and specialists as well as from recognized foreign institutions, practicing in internal medicine specialties, anasthesiology, surgical, specialties and all other physicians involved in invasive subspecialties (radiologists, cardiologists etc). Admission procedure includes assessment of the candidatesubmitted files and interview.
In order to obtain the Postgraduate diploma in linical and Surgical Anatomy (Applied Anatomy)of the medical school of the Faculty of health sciences of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the postgraduate students are obliged to attend and pass the 9 mandatory lessons, which provide 90 credit units (ECTS) and complete the postgraduate paper that provides 30 ECTS, which is presented in public.
Aims of the postgraduate studies program in linical and Surgical Anatomy (Applied Anatomy)are the following:
To train young physicians (of surgical, internal medicine and other specialties) in bloodless or non-invasive treatments, in the diagnosis based on imaging and the safe surgical approach in every anatomical region. The continuous use of the web libraries and data bases which essentially contribute in the scientific process and knowledge search, will give to the student the ability to understand that his/her further scientific evolution is solidly connected with clinical and surgical Anatomy.
Also, another aim of the postgraduate program studies is to improve scientific knowledge and research in the above fields of Clinical and Surgical Anatomy and to provide participants with specialized knowledge in order to achieve a better training for a successful scientific and professional career.
In particular the aim of the program is to train and provide clinical and surgical anatomy knowledge in order to understand in depth the human body and to diagnose with confidence any pathology affecting various human organs, with the benefit to easily diagnose and apply promptly the appropriate treatment in any specific condition, surgically of conservatively.
Professional qualifications is not applicable in the public or private sector.
Programme allows access to doctoral thesis.
A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme for the qualification of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Study Program follows the following distribution: (Ministerial Decision no Φ.1231/B1/425 art 60, Hellenic Government no 1099/2000/B):
Άριστα (Arista) Excellent: 8,50 - 10,00
Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good: 6,50 - 8,49
Καλώς (Kalos) Good: 6,00 - 6,49
Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitychos) Fail: 0,00 - 5,99
Minimmum passing grade: 6 (AUTH Rule of Procedure Α.Π.Θ., no 127/2-2-11).
4 semesters, 120 ECTS
A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1 ECTS =25-30). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazatte no 1466/2007/B). A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS.
