PEACE JOURNALISM

Το μάθημα επιδιώκει να εισάγει τους φοιτητές στις έννοιες της ειρήνης, των συγκρούσεων και της βίας και να αναλύσει το ρόλο που μπορούν να διαδραματίσουν τα μέσα ενημέρωσης/δημοσιογράφοι στην επίλυση συγκρούσεων και την οικοδόμηση της ειρήνης. Με τον τρόπο αυτό, όχι μόνο συγκρίνει την πολεμική δημοσιογραφία (το κυρίαρχο παράδειγμα, το οποίο δημιουργεί μια απλουστευτική αντίληψη των σημαντικών συγκρουσιακών και βίαιων γεγονότων) με την ειρηνευτική δημοσιογραφία (μια εναλλακτική προσέγγιση), αλλά εξετάζει επίσης τεχνικές για το πώς η αναφορά του πολέμου και της βίας (άμεσης, δομικής, πολιτισμικής) μπορεί να γίνει πιο ακριβής και πιο χρήσιμη, αναζητώντας τις ρίζες των συγκρούσεων και αναδεικνύοντας πιθανές λύσεις.

1. Συμμετοχή 20% του τελικού βαθμού. Οι προφορικές συνεισφορές και η συμμετοχή όλων των μαθητών είναι απαραίτητες. Αναμένεται από τους φοιτητές να κάνουν τα απαιτούμενα αναγνώσματα πριν από τα μαθήματα και να συμμετέχουν ενεργά στις ομαδικές συζητήσεις. 2. Παρουσιάσεις 20% του τελικού βαθμού. Κάθε φοιτητής θα είναι υπεύθυνος για 1 ή περισσότερες παρουσιάσεις. Κατά τη διάρκεια της παρουσίασης, οι φοιτητές παρουσιάζουν μια αποτελεσματική περίληψη του προκαθορισμένου θέματος, προσφέρουν την άποψή τους για τα επιχειρήματα/σημαντικότητά του και κατευθύνουν τη συζήτηση στην τάξη σχετικά με αυτό. 3. Ερευνητική εργασία 60% του τελικού βαθμού. Οι μαθητές θα συντάξουν μια ερευνητική εργασία (περίπου 5.000 λέξεις, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των παραπομπών/υποσημειώσεων). Η βιβλιογραφία θα προτείνεται και αν είναι δυνατόν θα παρέχεται από τον διδάσκοντα. Οι φοιτητές μπορούν να συζητήσουν και να συμφωνήσουν με τον καθηγητή τους για ένα συγκεκριμένο θέμα που θα ήθελαν να ερευνήσουν/γράψουν (οι πηγές και η βιβλιογραφία θα παρέχονται από τον διδάσκοντα)
