H 'Ευρωπαϊκή Δημοσιογραφία' νοείται και διερευνάται ως μια πρακτική που καλύπτει πολιτικά, οικονομικά και κοινωνικά ζητήματα ρητά από μια "ευρωπαϊκή" και όχι από μια "τοπική" και "εθνική" προοπτική. Έχοντας αυτό κατά νου, ο στόχος του μαθήματος είναι να διερευνήσει το ρόλο της δημοσιογραφίας στο πλαίσιο της ευρωπαϊκής αλληλεξάρτησης και ολοκλήρωσης -της διαδικασίας με την οποία οι χώρες της Ευρώπης συντονίζουν επίσημα τους νόμους, τις οικονομίες και τις πολιτικές τους-, και με αυτόν τον τρόπο να συζητήσει τα όρια, τις ευκαιρίες και τις προκλήσεις των δημοσιογραφικών πρακτικών και της κάλυψης από τα μέσα ενημέρωσης σχετικά με την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, τα θεσμικά της όργανα και τις πολιτικές της.
Μαθησιακά Αποτελέσματα
1. Κριτική κατανόηση της κάλυψης της Ευρώπης από τα κυρίαρχα μέσα ενημέρωσης 2. Ορισμός των βασικών εννοιών και πτυχών της "ευρωπαϊκής δημοσιογραφίας". 3. Να κατανοήσετε πώς η "ευρωπαϊκή δημοσιογραφία" μπορεί να διευκολύνει τον μετασχηματισμό των τοπικών και εθνικών πρακτικών και κανόνων της δημοσιογραφίας, συμβάλλοντας στην ανάπτυξη μιας ευρωπαϊκής δημόσιας σφαίρας 4. Να αναπτύξουν εργαλεία μέσω των οποίων μπορούν να εκτιμήσουν καλύτερα τα τοπικά τους πλαίσια μέσα από το πρίσμα μιας ευρωπαϊκής αφήγησης των δημοσιογραφικών πρακτικών 5. Να βοηθήσουν το κοινό και τους πολίτες να κατανοήσουν γιατί η "ευρωπαϊκή δημοσιογραφία" είναι επιθυμητή, καθώς οι ευρωπαϊκές κοινωνίες γίνονται όλο και πιο πολύπλοκες και πολιτικοί θεσμοί όπως η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση αναμένεται να κάνουν όλο και περισσότερα.

Εργαλεία απομακρυσμένων συναντήσεων (cisco webex), Λογισμικά παρουσίασης (τύπου powerpoint), Επιπλέον, οι φοιτητές χρησιμοποιούν εργαλεία αυτοματισμού γραφείου, φυλλομετρητές ιστού (web browser) καθώς και e-reader για ψηφιακά βιβλία.

Περιγραφή
1. Συμμετοχή 20% του τελικού βαθμού. Οι προφορικές συνεισφορές και η συμμετοχή όλων των μαθητών είναι απαραίτητες. Αναμένεται από τους φοιτητές να κάνουν τα απαιτούμενα αναγνώσματα πριν από τα μαθήματα και να συμμετέχουν ενεργά στις ομαδικές συζητήσεις. 2. Παρουσιάσεις 20% του τελικού βαθμού. Κάθε φοιτητής θα είναι υπεύθυνος για 1 ή περισσότερες παρουσιάσεις. Κατά τη διάρκεια της παρουσίασης, οι φοιτητές παρουσιάζουν μια αποτελεσματική περίληψη του προκαθορισμένου θέματος, προσφέρουν την άποψή τους για τα επιχειρήματα/σημαντικότητά του και κατευθύνουν τη συζήτηση στην τάξη σχετικά με αυτό. 3. Ερευνητική εργασία 60% του τελικού βαθμού. Οι μαθητές θα συντάξουν μια ερευνητική εργασία (περίπου 5.000 λέξεις, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των παραπομπών/υποσημειώσεων). Η βιβλιογραφία θα προτείνεται και αν είναι δυνατόν θα παρέχεται από τον διδάσκοντα. Οι φοιτητές μπορούν να συζητήσουν και να συμφωνήσουν με τον καθηγητή τους για ένα συγκεκριμένο θέμα που θα ήθελαν να ερευνήσουν/γράψουν (οι πηγές και η βιβλιογραφία θα παρέχονται από τον διδάσκοντα)
