Learning Outcomes
Introduction to GIS subjects and teaching of the theory connected to GIS procedures and implementation. Use of specialized software (ArcGIS 9.3 by ESRI.Introduction to the use of commercial GIS software, use of internet.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Digital cartographic data base. vector structures, topology of vector data, vector spatial analysis, statistical analysis, spatial statistics, overlays, simple geometric algorithms in a GIS, line and polygon intersections, >uncertainty in GIS, metadata, raster structures, raster spatial analysis, map algebra, regular and irregular tessellations DTM, grid, TIN, 3D- models, quadtrees, octrees, pyramids
