Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction. Hydrometry and hydraulic works. Analysis of data, theory of errors, deterministic and stochastic variables. Hydrometeorological measurements. Measurement of velocity and discharge in pipes (Pitot tube, Venturi tube, nozzle, orifice). Measurement of stage and velocity in open channels. Methods of measurement of discharge: Velocity-area method, slope-area method, dilution method, stage-discharge curve. Weirs and flumes, critical depth meters. Ultrasonic method. Electromagnetic method. Theory of similarity. Dimensional analysis. The Buckingham theorem, applications. River and harbor models. Scale distortion. Loose boundary models.
