Course Content (Syllabus)
Characteristics of groundwater aquifers. Methods and techniques for hydrogeological research. Groundwater abstraction. Sea water intrusion in coastal aquifers. Problems in the development of aquifers: use of groundwater, combined use of ground and surface waters. Groundwater resources mathematical simulation models. The problem of groundwater pollution: sources and types of pollution, transport of pollutants, simulation models. Techniques for the protection and restoration of aquifers. Uncertainty analysis in groundwater pollution control. Delineation of well head protection zones.
