Learning Outcomes
Objectives: A) To provide knowledge about: (1) the role of dental plaque in the etiology of major dental diseases, (2) mechanical and chemical measures for control plaque, (3) diet and its contribution to oral diseases (4) the role and use of fluoride in dentistry (5) the role of saliva, (6) smoking and oral health, and (7) designing and applying prevention programs.
B) To improve the skills of the students in: (1) recording caries activity, experience and risk, (2) analyzing diet and risk factors for dental disease, and (3) sialometria.
C) To create attitudes towards: (1) applying preventive measures when practicing dentistry, (2) seeking education and training improvement in issues of Preventive Dentistry, and (3) participating and actively contributing to the acquisition of new knowledge in Preventive Dentistry.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The lesson emfasize the clinical application of preventive and therapeutic preciples of modern dentistry. The purpose of the lesson is the student of dentistry must a) gain the ability to inform and educate the patients in the principles of oral health promotion, b) to apply modern primary and secondary perevention in patients
of all ages, and c) to realize the meaning of clinical application of prevente [principles to promote oral and general health by applying the appropriate preventive program according to the case
