Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will: 1. understand the process radiation deposit energy into matter, 2. will understand what is natural radiation dose units 3. they understand that we have to bear the physical dose with quality agents radiation in order to be associated with biological effects of radiation. 4. they understand the need for radiation protection rules and the principles 5. We will learn about the biological effects of radiation and results in society and to each member individually.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Isotopes-Production: isotopes used in Medicine, Special requirements of isotopes used in medicine, isotope production, concentration of the isotope, half-life (total time = + natural biological elimination half-life isotope)
· Imaging: Detecting radiation - image formation, collimators, resolution of image-criteria method comparison.
· Treatment: Isotopes (60Co, brachytherapy) Medical accelerators (construction-beam photon-producing reactions (X-ray radiation-braking), guides, measurement of the dose.
· Protection against radiation: Principles of radiation protection and international regulations.
