Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Multimedia theory and technology; Familiarization with tools for development of multimedia applications; basic knowledge of learning theories.
Learning Outcomes
Cognitive: Advanced issues in the design of multimedia applications for learning. Comparative analysis and implementation of current theoretical models on the design of multimedia applications for learning. Skills: (1) Use of tools for design/development of multimedia applications for learning; (2) Researcher skills: implementation of quantitative and qualitative methods for assessment of technology-enhanced learning; (3) Authorig skills: Literature research and management to author a scientific paper according to international standards, relevant to multimedia learning.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Knowledge representations for learning in multimedia environments. Knowledge framework for understanding the properties of multimedia representations. Cognitive processes when using multiple representations (complementarity, constrain, construct). Mayer's cognitive model for multimedia learning. Design principles of multimedia presentation. The impact of animation in learning. Design of learning interactions in multimedia environments. Dual Coding Theory in comparative analysis to the Structure Mapping approach. Comparative analysis of international literature regarding multimedia learning.
