Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able: 1) To understand in depth the effects of climate change on forest ecosystems. 2) To analyze documented the possible changes and make proposals to address the negative effects, which (proposals) should be incorporated in the management of forest ecosystems. 3) To contribute to the design and development of appropriate forest handling under the light of climate change. 4) To have the background and skills necessary for long-term integrated planning of addressing the effects of climate change on forest ecosystems, by developing a custom management of forest ecosystems.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Climate change and forest vegetation in the past. Methods investigating the impact of climate change on forests in the past.Climatic conditions and historical development of vegetation. The timeless relationship "climate - forest" in Greece. Recent - modern climate and forest vegetation. -Methods Investigation of climate change by elements of modern forest vegetation. -Climate change effect on flora and vegetation. Climate change and forest vegetation in Greece Effect of climate change on forest changes and population - genetic monitoring and gene pool of threatened forest populations / species; forest populations. Adaptation to climate change; genetic improvement opportunities for durability. Climate change and its impact on the evolution of forest species. Role and genetic improvement strategies to protect the genetic diversity of forest species, with emphasis on regional populations, in the light of climate change.
