Learning Outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the personality, the beliefs the significance, the spiritual experience and free spirit of a 20th century Orthodox Theologian, St Silouanos the Athonite. It, also, offers an insight into his special contribution to the modern world

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course St Silouanos the Athonite is an optional course included in the Curriculum of the Department of pastoral and Social Theology. (English) 1. Introduction and a generall presentation of the ascetic figures of Mount Athos. 2. The biographer of St Silouanos: elder Sophrony 3. St Silouanos and the Holy Mount 4. The life of the Saint 5. St Silouanos’ spirituality 6. The patristic tradition in the teachings of St Silouanos 7. Tradition and personal experience in the life of St Silouanos 8. Silouanos’ ascetic experiences 9.
