Course Content (Syllabus)
The course consists of theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part involves teaching method emergence and structuring of research scientific subject. It contributes to the foundation of scientific work in the field of social research that supports the science of spatial planning. Firstly is clarified the relationship between research method and research techniques. Then, is highlighted the trilogy: “rupture” – “structuring” – “verification” of research subject, with 7 separate phases: A’. Central question formation, B '. The Investigation of research Field, C’. The Development of problem (examples on migration and fertility). D’ Model’s analysis structuring. Model analysis as a set of coordinates working hypothesis and conceptual tools. E '. Observation in the social sciences. Reliability, validity and objectivity problems. Sample surveys, study of documents, archival sources and secondary data. F '. Analysis and data clustering. G’. Conclusions and new knowledge and suggestions of implementation. Empirical part of the exercise involves the development of student group work in collaboration with the instructor. Refers to the presentation and critical methodological review of past years graduate thesis.
