Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge on the transport policy-making in Greece and the European Union and contribute to the understanding of the relationships and interactions between economic growth and transport systems. Also, the course aims to equip students with the necessary skills to implement elements of the economic analysis in the transport sector and to introduce the basic techniques of financial and socio-economic evaluation of transportation projects.
Course Content (Syllabus)
In particular, the lectures negotiate the following topics: national and European policy and institutional framework for transport, transport and economic development, evolution and characteristics of road, sea, rail and air transport in global and national environment, the market for transport, supply and demand factors in transport, cost and transport pricing, external costs and social benefits in transport, forms of financing in the transport sector, evaluation methods of investment projects in transport.
