Learning Outcomes
Upon successfull completion, the graduate student should be capable of: • Identifying and estimating the uncertainty or reliability degree of the different variables and parameters under study. • Understanding the significance of risk in environmental issues and problems and applying methods for its quantification. • Modeling various types of decision making and risk analysis problems with the use of decision trees. • Solving environmental management problems by applying principles and methods of decision analysis.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Probability Theory: Probabilities, Probability distributions, Random variables and distributions. Decision Theory: Simple and Complex Decisions, Decision matrix, Decision Trees, Single criteron and Multicriteria Decision Making Utility Theory: Definition, Utility functions, Application and properties of utility functions. Risk analysis: Definitions and Context, Qualitative analysis of risks, Reliability theory, Systems' reliability, Unertainty analysis Case Studies
