The objective of the course is to offer students basic knowledge about the morphotactics and morphosemantic structure of words, the operation of morphological units, as well as about the relationship of Morphology with other linguistic fields.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is an introduction to basic concepts of morphology and to issues of synchronic description of the morphological structure. We focus particularly on the mechanisms that generate and renew vocabulary (derivation, declension, composition, etc.). We offer information on the definition and structure of words, the idetification of individual components and their basic characteristics, the rules and principles of word formation, the characteristics of the morphological operations of declension, derivation and composition, and the relationship of Morphology with other areas of linguistics such as Syntax, Phonology, etc.
