Course Content (Syllabus)
The student teachers, during the third phase of their practicum, are fully engaged in the daily kindergarten program. The practicum intends to enable students to acquire the essential knowledge and competencies in order to become self-confident, self-sufficient and able to take pedagogical and teaching decisions. Practicum third phase is accomplished during the 8th semester of their studies. The full practicum course includes: a. Lectures, seminars & workshops carried out at the faculty by the professors and the group leaders, in order to prepare students for their placement in kindergarten classrooms. During this period, students under the supervision of their professors and group leaders study, design and organize their programs. b. Supervised placement in a Kindergarten class for 4 weeks (4 days per week). c. Feedback meeting classes where students’ teaching programs are presented, discussed and assessed by the group. Class-group meetings where feedback is provided through presentation, discussion and assessment of the students’ teaching programs. The students who attend the “Psychology and special education” direction carry out their practicum in Kindergartens that include children with special educational needs.
