Learning Outcomes
Students: a. Contact ability and familiarization with people with disabilities and various systemic illnesses. b. Ability of assessing physical condition aspects and determining developmental(mobility, flexibility) levels of persons with disabilities. c. Ability of preparing and implementing psychomotor therapy, physiotherapy and kinesiotherapy programs,for improvement and restoration of motor impairments, and systemic exercise training for the prevention and treatment of systemic organic diseases. d. Ability to design and implement appropriate exercise programs for people with disabilities so as to improve fitness, promote psychological support and improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Teaching units: Special physical education 1. Methods of psychomotor learning skills in individuals with mental retardation. 2. Basic principles of orthosomatics. 3. Orthosomatics (exercise programs). 4. Exercise training programs for individuals with spinal cord injuries. 5. Exercise training programs for individuals with cerebral palsy. 6. Practical applications of exercise training programs for individuals with motor disorders. 7. Sensory integration. 8. Adapted relaxation techniques. 9. Physical education programs for individuals with learning disabilities. 10.Games and practical applications for individuals with disabilities. 11.Exercise training programs for individuals with amputees. 12.Exercise training programs for individuals with diabetes mellitus. 13.Visits to special schools and athletic teams for individuals with disabilities and developmental disorders. Practical applications. Physical therapy 1. Types of exercise. 2. Therapeutic exercise. 3. Measurements (goniometry, range of motion, measurement of the perimeter of limbs etc). 4. Practice of taking measurements. 5. Creation of programs of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation. 6. Exercise in chronic and degenerative diseases. 7. Presentation of programs of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation for chronic-degenerative diseases. 8. Exercise for people with deformities. 9. Practical exercising of the previous unit. 10.Presentation of programs of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation for spinal deformities. 11.Exercise and the elderly. 12.Presentation of programs of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation for the elderly. 13.Presentation of programs of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation. Exercise in chronic systemic diseases 1. Blood diseases. 2. Hypertension. 3. Ischemic heart disease – Myocardial infarction. 4. Cardiac rehabilitation. 5. Cardiac rehabilitation. 6.
