Learning Outcomes
Acquiring the theoretical knowledge of the basic clinical and laboratory steps for the construction of fixed prosthetic restorations
Learning how to record medical/dental history for Fixed Prosthodontics
Learning how to take initial and final impressions
Learning how to make occlusal registrations of jaw relations
Learning how to construct a cast post/core with the direct technique

Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of the course is the pre-clinical training of undergraduate students in basic clinical procedures for the construction of fixed prosthetic restorations (Crowns and Fixed Partial Dentures). The course consists of seminars and pre-clinical training (2 hours / week). The content of the seminars covers a comprehensive reference to the clinical stages required for the construction of a fixed prosthetic restoration and covers in detail all the sections related to the initial examination of the patient, collection of diagnostic data, treatment planning, final impressions, occlusal registration, fitting of metal cast substructure, color selection, cementation, as well as maintenance and postoperative care. Students’ performance is evaluated by the training faculty members during their pre-clinical training and the successful response to written exams at the end of the 6th semester.
