Learning Outcomes
Cognitive: Understanding sustainability and sustainable use of natural resources. Understanding environmental problems and their relations with management. Applying ecological theory and knowledge in principles of sustainable ecosystem management. Bacic princimples of biodiveristy conservation. Presentation of complementary methods and tools (ecological models, GIS etc) that are widely used for biological conservation. Development of criteria and presentation of various examples on methodologies and tools applied for designing conservation areas and used for assessing the efficiency of protected areas.
Affective: Sensibilization in environmental conservation issues. Sensibilization, taking responsibility and adοption of sustainable living and sustainable use/management of natural resources.
Skills: Recognition of environmental problems in the field, evaluation and proposing alternative sustainable management scenarios. Oganizing management plans. Improving the understanding on mechanism and tools used for biodiversity conservation.

Interpretation of sustainability – sustainable use of natural resources. Laws of Matter and Energy and environmental problems. Development and the Environment. Sustainable Development. Historical retrospection. Definition-principles of ecosystem management. Ecological theory and management of ecological systems. Procedures in ecosystem management. Elaboration of management plans. Wildlife/habitat management. Management of inland waters and watershed. Management of protected areas. Restoration. Principles of a sustainable society. EU policies for sustainable development.
