Course Content (Syllabus)
This course follows upon that of Statistics for the Social Sciences and is divided into two parts. In the first (without mathematical details), the course focuses on advanced multivariate techniques dealing mainly with the concepts, interpretation and requirements of the techniques discussed: clustering, correspondence analysis and factor analysis. It includes an introduction to the aforementioned methods, guidelines for their usage, and comparative assessments. Special emphasis is laid on the prerequisites of their application, on their relative credibility, and on their respective appropriateness to available data. The second part deals with sampling techniques, organization and realization of a survey. Students are obliged to take part in the steps of an explanatory survey.
