The students will get familiar with specific techniques as well as separation analytical techniques nad they will be informed on the use of the instruments, the applications, the advantages and the disadvantags of each technique.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Types and composition of samples. Sampling, sample preservation, loss of sample ingredients. Sample pretreatment techniques. Wet digestion techniques with acids and mixtures. Fusion, dry ashing, oxygen plasma ashing. Effect of microwaves and radiation. Special devices for the dissolution of solid and liquid materials. Methods for chemical analysis of water (drinking, seawater), minerals and rocks (limestone, chromite), siliceous materials (ceramics, glass, cement), metals and alloys (brass and steel). Applications of separation, spectroscopic, electrochemical and automatic techniques in chemical analysis of various materials and substrates, and laboratory exercises.
