The fifth semester English language units are related to the following subjects: - Forest Plantation: PART I: Definition - History PART II: Future Developments, types of Plantations - Why plants need water - its importance, reference to 'water stress', turgor, precipitation - On Wood: PART I: Chemistry and physics of wood Bacteria, Fungi and Insects: enemies of wood PART II: Decay in wood - fire, the deadliest enemy of forests - - Silvics and Silviculture PART I: What is Silviculture? Its contribution to forests regeneration PART II: Intermediate stand treatments (eg. release treatments, thinning, pruning) Every text is followed by the appropriate vocabulary each time, and the glossary of the key terms as well.
