Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able: - To familiarize students with specific aspects of the foundations of the Christian faith, on the basis of the life and the cultural records of the Church (Christian literature and art). - A closer and more thorough study into specific topics of the Dogmatics of the Orthodox Catholic Church. - Specific topics of the Orthodox faith are presented, interpreted and discussed. These topics are related to aspects concerning eschatological teachings of the Church.

Course Content (Syllabus)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Specific topics of the Orthodox faith are presented, interpreted and discussed. These topics are related to aspects concerning eschatological teachings of the Church. SCHEDULE OF LECTURES: 1) The Church as eschatological community and her life in anticipation of the eschata. 2) Man, time and space. 3) The issue of time in orthodox thinking. 4) Eschatology in the Patristic period. 5) Christ, the first and the last, beginning and end. 6) The eschatological nature of the Church. 7) Eschatology in the everyday life of Man. 8) The experience of the eschata in the liturgical practice of the Orthodox Church. 9) Holy Eucharist: communion and foretaste of the eschata. 10)The iconographic form of teaching about Paradise and Hell. 11)Interpretive approaches to themes concerning Paradise and Hell. 12)The Mystery of Death. “I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come”. 13)Recapitulation and agathotopia in Orthodox theology.
