Description
A general overview of the Greek Ancient History from the 8th-4th cent. B.C. Special attention will be paid to the evolution of the polis-state. This class will examine the city-state, as a Greek institution emerged in the Archaic Period as a homogenous entity. Issues such as when did the polis emerge and when did it come to an end or what was the character of the city-state culture and which were its concepts will be answered, based on the available sources.
