Course Content (Syllabus)
1)Introduction. Religion and cult in ancient Greece. 2) Literary and epigraphical sources. The vocabulary and the place of dedications 3) Occasions for dedication, formulae of dedication, dedication management 4) Votive objects. Introduction. Representations of the god. 5) Representations of the donor (family, priests ect.Buildings and major monuments. 6) Archaic statuary types. 7) Votive objects. Pinakes, clothing, wreaths. 8) Warlike. Cauldrons. 9) Vases and cult vessels. 10) Memorials of life and work. Models of body parts. Athletic. 11) Money. Mirabilia. Miniatures. 12)Dedications: The case of a sanctuary in Macedonia. 13)Summary and conclusion.
