Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion students will have acquired: ~ a good knowledge about authors, literary works and the general pattern of the history of modern Greek literature (appr. 11th-20th centuries). ~ a quite sufficient understanding of the features of fundamental texts of Early Modern Greek literary texts. ~ an intellectual mode of thinking, on the basis of the above learning outcomes, on issues of comprehension and critical reading of literay texts.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course aims to familiarize students with three major texts of Early Modern Greek Literature: the epic of Digenis Akritis (Grottaferrata and Escorial versions), the Medieval Greek romance Kallimachos, and the Renaissance Cretan romance Erotokritos by V. Kornaros.
