Learning Outcomes
This class offers an application of method on literary studies, in which students employ basic research methods, make use of various sources and examples and practice theoretical writing as a development of a critical-scientific thought at a postgraduate level. The overall aim of the course is to train students and familiarize them with fields of research and subjects of study which they will have to tackle during their studies such as print and electronic bibliographies for Modern Greek Studies, evaluating and making the best of these bibliographies towards the production of quality papers, publishing, processing print and digital publications, methodology and approaches to the history of literature, theories of literature and their use to discuss specific texts. All under the light of an interdisciplinary approach and in the process of writing a well structured scientific paper.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: MODERN GREEK STUDIES (a joint course shared among members of the teaching faculty) comprises parts and is an introduction to key research areas in Modern Greek Literature (History / Historiography of Modern Greek Literature, metrics, publishing issues, Bibliology), theoretical and cultural approaches to the field and to research methodology (print and electronic bibliography) towards the writing of a scientific paper. This seminar aims to raise questions of correspondences between fundamental questions in theory and their applicability in literary practice. In studying important theoretical texts, a textual example is selected to project the application of theory (on Cavafy's poetry for instance) through previous and current criticism. Thereby activating a more profound communication with the text, familiarity with current theories is achieved while case practicing through written and oral presentations helps develop a well structured thought.

Description
Integrated use of information technology inside and outside the classroom. Effective inside the classroom for face to face teaching through word and powerpoint presentations and outside the classroom via the internet for bibliographic information and online communication of the students with the tutor. Students have also access to information technology at the space especially equipped with computer software and hardware by the Department where digital technology infrastructure includes internet and web services to facilitate word processing and internet access.
