Course Content (Syllabus)
The course introduces the design process through the logic that the four primary geometric elements of point, line, surface, and volume bring about. These elements are not approached only through their geometric dimension but also in relation to their structural consequences (e.g. linear or superficial structure) as well as their conceptual signification (e.g. point as centrality, line as continuation, etc.). Furthermore, each of these elements is associated with specific articulation techniques that appear during the development of forms as well as construction. The course presents characteristic buildings (from the entire range of historical architecture) that exhibit focusing on some of the above items and thinking analyzes developed in their design. It also asks for the designing of a project in a given context based on the presented logic.
