In the scientific area of Pediatric surgery, is included the treatment congenital malformations and acquired surgical diseases brought by the birth of the child until the age of 14 years. The specialty of Pediatric Surgery involves the whole cycle of life and involves all body systems except from the cardiovascular. Finally it is important to emphasize that although it is considered a relevant specialty with General Surgery, it is an independent specialty, having completely detached from General Surgery. This is due to the fact that children are not a miniature of an adult, but that the little patient is a rapid growing organism with multiple special needs.
