Course Content (Syllabus)
The course deals with the history of ancient greek medicine. Students are introduced to Homeric medicine, medical aspects of Greek mythology, medicine practiced in oracles and especially medicine of Asclepius. The presocratic philosophical schools and their impact on the transformation of medicine from theocratic to rationalistic are presented, while Hippocratic medicine is thoroughly studied. Finally, the evolution of the medical art to science is demonstrated, taking examples from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Description
During the written evaluation of students, the basic knowledge of the course of evolution of medicine is seeked. It is necessary for students to know the key elements that contributed to the progress of medicine. The clear knowledge and understanding of the temporal sequence of historical facts and discoveries is also evaluated.
