Learning Outcomes
The goals of the course is a thorough understanding of the most important bacteria that cause infections in humans as well as their microbiological diagnosis.Moreover, the objectives of the course include the introduction to the basic principles of immunology and immune response to bacterial infections.

Course Content (Syllabus)
History of Microbiology, Classification of microorganisms, Morphological study of the microbial cell, Anatomy of the bacterial body, Physiology of microbes, Microbial genetics, Factors influencing microorganisms, Chemotherapeutics-Antibiotics, Criteria allow for the typing of bacteria, Relationships of host-microorganism, the normal microbial flora of humans, immunity, Innate immunity - acquired immunity, antigens, Antibodies Immunoglobulins - immune response, Major histocompatibility complex, Complement system, Immunohaematologia - blood groups, Hypersensitivity, Immunity to infection, Antigen-antibody reactions, Artificial active immunity. Cocci Gram-positive, Cocci Gram-negative, Corynobacteria - Listeria - Nokardies - Actinomycetes - Streptomyces, Mycobacteria, Aerobic endospores-forming bacteria - Bacillus, Anaerobic endospores-forming bacteria - Clostridia, Anaerobic Gram-negative non-endospores-forming bacteria, Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas, Haemophilus - Borntetella, Brucella, Pasteurella - Fransiselles, Vibrio - Campylobacter, Legionella, Various Gram-negative bacteria, Speirochaetales, Mycoplasmas - L-forms, Rickettsia, Chlamydia.
