Course Content (Syllabus)
ΕΠ037 Judo
Purpose. To offer the students the necessary methodical, organizational and practical knowledges, so they can be able to teach basic techniques of judo (in physical education lessons at school), and to assist them in judo specialization.
Learning and teaching units:
1. History - Philosophical approach.
2. The Bases of judo technique:
3. Basic stances.
4. Locomotion in all directions - Body shifting / Body control (the manner in which a contestant changes his body position and orientation when executing or receiving a technique).
5. Introduction in falling techniques: Backward break-fall, Forward break-fall.
6. Sideways break-fall. Forward roll.
7. Theory: Classification of Judo Techniques - syllabus.
8. The Destroy of the Balance (e.g. pulling or pushing while entering for a throw) - Set-up to execute technique / Execution of techniques, (in combination).
9. Representative techniques of judo syllabus: a) hip throwing techniques (O-Goshi, etc.)
10. Representative techniques of judo syllabus: b) foot/leg throwing techniques (De-Ashi-Barai, etc.)
11. Ground fighting Techniques: a) Hold-down techniques (mat holds), Chokes (air) - Strangulations (blood).
12. Ground fighting Techniques: b) Armbars/Joint Locks.
13. Competition regulation and the refereeing rules – Scoring.
