(1) To understand the techniques employed for the acquisition, representation, processing, compression and archiving of digital media. (2) To identify the common building blocks of these techniques shared among the various types of media (audio, images and video). (3) To get familiar with the formal specification documents (like the international standards of ISO, ITU, etc) and make students capable of implementing multimedia systems that conform to these specifications.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Retrieve, analyse and synthesise data and information, with the use of necessary technologies
  • Work autonomously
  • Work in teams
  • Design and manage projects
  • Be critical and self-critical
  • Advance free, creative and causative thinking
