Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to:
1. Acknowledge the complex cultural function of criticism as citizens and as professionals.
2. Acknowledge, analyse and interpret the specific features and codes of each art form.
3. Develop evaluation criteria for the different art forms.
4. Write reviews based on solid and convincing arguments.
5. Work as professional cultural journalists and critics/reviewers for the Greek and/or international media.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Artistic and literary creation as a media event. The value judgment in the field of the arts, in terms of opinion writing (book, theatre, film, music, art exhibitions, photography, etc.). Cultural journalism, criticism and reviewing. The arts reporter and the critic/reviewer. Nature and functions of a review. Journalistic requirements, form, content, style. Students practice in reviewing current artistic events.
