Learning Outcomes
Acquisition of advanced knowledge on groundwater flows, in particular on non-steady flows, leaky aquifers and generalization of the method of images. Development of skills regarding in situ measurement of aquifers’ hydraulic features (e.g. transmissivity and storativity)

Course Content (Syllabus)
The role of groundwater in water resources management. Aquifer classification. Hydraulic parameters, imhomogeneity and anisotropy. Mathematical simulation of groundwater flows. Analytical solutions for steady and non-steady flows in phreatic, confined and leaky aquifers. Well hydraulics. The method of images. Numerical simulation of groundwater flows. Pumping tests.

Student Assessment
Final written exam. 3-5 written, non-mandatory tests. Each test grade is taken into account (as 10% of the final grade), only if it is higher than the grade of the final exam.
