Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on the study (recording, monitoring, description, analysis, interpretation, understanding, prediction) of the results of natural processes and anthropogenic intervention on the environment. For the purposes of the course, the environment is studied through a “spheres” approach (Geosphere, Hydrosphere, Cryosphere, Atmosphere, Biosphere-Anthroposphere), whereas the interactions between these spheres are also investigated. A special mention is made to the “environment” beyond Earth and to the human activities that take place in Space. From the aforementioned perspective, topics concerning natural and anthropogenic disasters as well as phenomena related to climate change are also discussed. In this context, the course is largely based on the active and collaborative student participation. Particular emphasis is given to the didactical approach of the course content, including micro-teaching, collecting and presenting educational material, as well as elaborating group projects in the domain of Physical Science/Geoscience and environmental education.
