Learning Outcomes
Students to become familiar with communication and counceling skills and to be able το manage socio-emotional children's problems in classroom. More specifically, to be able to communicate effectively with children, to help children manage their conflicts and emotions and manage crises in their classrooms.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Definition of counseling. Mental health and counseling. Philosophical dimensions of counceling. The importance of emotions, self –concept and self-esteem. Counseling and therapy. The humanitarian counceling approach. Counceling and Maslow. Rogers’ person-centered counceling approach. The characteristics of an effective counceling procedure. Stages of counceling procedure and counceling skills. The development of self-concept in pre-school and middle childhood. Social and emotional learning. Emotional competence. Emotional skills: understanding, expressing and dealing with emotions. Stressful events. Dealing with school crises. Aims of school crises’ counceling.
