Learning Outcomes
Students to acquire scientific knowledge and to get training regarding the teaching profession. Studens to be able to understand the relationship between psychology and education with emphasis placed on preschool education. More specifically, to become familiar with 1. basic theories of learning and motivation and 2. important principles of classroom management.

Course Content (Syllabus)
1. Learning and teaching. Behaviorism, learning and teaching, Piaget’s influence, ψognitive constructivism, cognitive conflicts and learning, Socio-cognitive theories of learning and teaching. Vygotsky’s and Bandura’s influence. Self-regulated learning. Social constructivism. Social interactions and learning. Socio cognitive conflicts. 2. Motivation and learning. Motives and anxiety, curiosity and interest, Theories of motivation, Motivation and encouragement,Motivation and self-determination, learned helplessness, Goal orientation, vii. Educational applications. 3. Classroom management. Classroom management and children’s behavior, Children’s time engagement in learning activities, Classroom discipline, rules setting, logical consequences, Social discipline in classroom, false children’s aims,critical classroom management.

Student Assessment
Description
Written exams (70% of the total grade), two compulsory personal assignments (up to 1.5 points each). Optional personal essay (up to 1.5 points). In order for the essay points to be taken into account, written evaluation must be no less than 5/10.
