General Prerequisites
Students must already know about general methods and methodologies of teaching EFL, and be very competent users of English language.
Learning Outcomes
Students will leave knowing several types of syllabi. They will be able to examine a syllabus they meet and decide what drove its design and use. They will be able to assess the value of each syllabus. They should be able to see what type of teaching material fits any particular syllabus.

Course Content (Syllabus)
A general framework is presented within which students will be able to evaluate a syllabus type both a) by examining and judging its design, and b) by assessing how useful it would be to use it with the learners they will encounter. They will also learn how the syllabus they are working with can be adapted to make its use more efficient.

Student Assessment
Description
Final 2½ hrs examination with 3 equally weighted compulsory questions that demand both theoretical and practical knowledge. OR only in exceptional cases a student may do a full project of at least 4000 words. Answers MUST be focussed on Syllabus Design. They may included knowledge about teaching approaches and methodology, but scores will be lowered if the emphasis is on those.
