Learning Outcomes
The course aims towards the understanding of the basic approaches and techniques used in genetic engineering, genetic analysis and biotechnology with particular emphasis on health and industrial applications. The student will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills that will eanble him/her to approach and provide solutions to application related problems

Course Content (Syllabus)
Cloning in plasmids, construction and maintenance of genomic and cDNA libraries, PCR applications in basic research, diagnosis and genetic engineering, Prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems, viruses as vectors for foreign gene expression and genetic intervention, DNA microarrays, advanced methods of genetic analysis, molecular mechanisms of recombination

Description
Evaluation of the student's performance is accomplished by a three-member committee and is based on performance throught the semester in both lectures and pactical labs as well as on the quality of the individual project paper and its presentation.
