Learning Outcomes
The objective of the course is to offer students basic knowledge about the morphology of Spanish language and the operation of morphological units, as well as about the relationship of Morphology with other linguistic fields. We also aim to make our Department’s Italian-speaking students cultivate those skills that will enable them to understand -to a greater extent-, simple written texts in Spanish, even if their language skills in the latter are not highly developed.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is an introduction to basic concepts of (structural) morphology and to issues of synchronic description of the morphological structure of Spanish. We focus particularly on the mechanisms that generate and renew Spanish vocabulary (derivation, composition, etc.) while at a morphophonological level and from a practical perspective we look at various parts of speech (article, noun, adjective, pronoun, verb, etc.) of Spanish in relation to Italian.
