Learning Outcomes
This course aims to offer an in-depth study of the structures and levels of the Greek language as a target language through linguistic analysis. To that end, different text types are studied and various techniques are used to enrich the students' vocabulary and enhance correct language usage. Students practise written expression to produce various text types. At the end of the semester, the student is expected to a. recognize the lingistic variations, the text genres and types, the stylistic registers and the main stylistic features; b. to be conscious of the dynamic nature of language, through the understanding of concepts as communication situation, peritext etc.; c. to have enriched its vocabulary with word and phrases coming for Ancient Greek, Latin, religious language and several foreign languages; d. to apply all this in the writing of simple texts.

Description
The assessment for this course consists of continuous evaluation with at least 2 assignments during the semester and participation in classwork (30%). Additionally, it comprises a mid-term exam (30%) and a final exam (40%). The assessment procedure is presented in the course description on eclass, at http://eclass.auth.gr/courses/FRL111/, described in outline in the courses guide, and explained to the students.
