Course Content (Syllabus)
Purpose The analytical presentation and comprehension of theoretical and applied principles of Garden and Park Design, as they are shaped by the complex of natural factors, human activities and socio-economic parameters.
Design projects on small and medium scale sites.
Contents, course objectives
a) Design process in site planning – Inventory and evaluation of design factors – Functional diagrams – Basic residential design principles – Forms and Esthetics – Preliminary and Master plans.
b) Topography – Landforms _ Earthworks.
c) Climate and Microclimate.
d) Plants Materials: Plant characteristics.
e) Relationships of buildings and site – Linkage.
f) Structural elements in outdoor spaces.
g) Use of water in design.
h) Principles of irrigation and lighting.
i) Art in the Landscape.
