1.Trace the timeline of major events in Ancient Greece
2.Link important developments in the history of Greek Antiquity to specific geographical contexts.
3.Identify the important stylistic and technical developments of Ancient Greek art
4.Discuss important artworks, presenting relevant information on each work’s historical context and constitution
5.Identify important artists in terms of the style of their work
6.Conduct independent research and analysis
Course Content (Syllabus)
Ancient Greek Sanctuaries II: Τopography and Mythology. Part II.
The course provides basic knowledge concerning Classical Archaeology and Topography. Ιt presents the most important archaeological sites of Greece, especially the panhellenic sanctuaries (the sanctuary of Zeus in Olympia, the sanctuaries of Apollo in Delphi and Delos, the Athenian Akropolis and the important archaeological sites of Northern Greece (Dion and Vergina) as well. In this frame Greek Mythology is also examined.
