Course Content (Syllabus)
Heterogeneity of Cinema II: Time, Timing, Editing and Sound-Design Theory and practice in film-direction. Film-direction as a synthesis of the heterogeneous elements of the cinematic medium, with a stress on the parameters of sound, such as voices, noises and music. We study the sound parameters in cinema, both autonomously and in their continuous dialogue with the elements of image. We investigate time in cinema both as a construction – through timing and editing – and as a perceptive experience. We analyse diachronically and synchronically film fragments, according to different theoretical approaches. Synthetic exercises aiming at the comprehension of the potentialities of the tripartite structure of sound in cinema. Collaboration between the film-director, the editor and the sound-designer.

In teaching, we are using technologies of moving image and sound reproduction. For the workshop’s projects, the students are using technologies of moving image and sound recording and post-production. Outside classes, one of the ways that we communicate with the students about the courses is via Internet.

Μετά το τέλος κάθε εργαστηρίου, δίδονται σημειώσεις με τα θέματα του εργαστηρίου, ώστε να μπορούν οι φοιτητές να ανατρέξουν σε αυτά, όποτε χρειαστεί. Επίσης, κάποιες φορές στις σημειώσεις αυτές γίνεται περαιτέρω ανάλυση και μελέτη κάποιων θεμάτων. Ανάλογα με τα θέματα που εξετάζονται, δίδεται πρόσθετη βιβλιογραφία.
