Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. know the strategies of plant disease management
2.know in detail the several plant disease control methods with their advantages, disadvantages and limitations
3. They will be able to design plant disease management programs by combining knoweldge for the epidemiology of plant diseases, already acquired from other courses and knowledge for specific control methods acquired in the current course
Course Content (Syllabus)
Strategies and methods of plant disease control. Cultural measures and enhacement of plant resistance to diseases. Production of certifield propagative material. Biological control of plant diseases - mechanisms of biological control. Resistance varieties, genetics of disease resistance and genetically modified plants. Chemical control of plant diseases, methods of application and fungal resistance to fungicides. Integrated plant disease management.
