Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1) understand the aplications of molecular genetic techniques and Biotechnology in Fisheries and aquaculture.
2) understand the importance of rational application of the molecular and biotectechnological approaches in farm breeding and conservation of native fish populations.

Introduction, Genetic variation, Application of Molecular Markers in Fisheries and Aquaculture, Evaluation of genetic structure in natural fish populations, Genetic considerations in aquaculture, Quantitative genetics and aquaculture, Chromosome manipulation in fishes, Polyploidy, Gynogenesis, Androgenesis, Sex reversal and breeding, Genetic engineering and aquaculture, Production of genetic modified species, Genetic risks on native fish populations and ecosystems.
