Masticatory muscle anatomy-muscle fiber characteristics 4. Mechanism of mandibular movements-anterior and posterior determinants of mandibular movements 5. Masticatory function-masticatory performance and efficiency 6. Anatomic and physiologic alterations of the edentulous patients’s stomatognathic system 7. Jaw relations and occlusion in edentulous patients 8. Principles of occlusion-occlusal schemes in dentate and partial edentulous patients 9. Pathogenic occlusion and occlusal trauma 10. Course Content (Syllabus)
The purpose of the course is to present a theoretical and practical approach to the study of anatomy, physiology and function of the stomatognathic system and occlusion. This course introduces students to the anatomy-physiology of the temporomandibular articulation and muscles of mastication and familiarizes them with the mandibular movements and principles of occlusion.
