Learning Outcomes
The course aims: a) to provide knowledge about the oral cavity as an ecosystem influenced by exogenous and endogenous factors, and b) to improve the understanding of the physiological functions of this ecosystem.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course includes: a description of the abiotic and biotic parts of the oral ecosystem, the formation and metabolic activities of the living part, the importance of the ecosystem balance for maintaining oral health, as well as the health consequences in cases of disturbance of the ecological balance e.g. in caries and periodontal diseases.
